Pamela J. Wright

Pam Wright is CEO, sole owner, and founder of Wright Travel, headquartered in Nashville. Wright Travel has been consistently ranked in Travel Weekly's Top 50 Agencies and in Nashville Business Journal's Top 100 Nashville-Area Private Companies. In 1989, Wright Travel was named to the Inc. 500 list of 500 fastest growing, privately-held companies in America.

A native of Lebanon, Tennessee, Ms. Wright holds a B.S. in psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. She began her career as a social worker for the Tennessee Department of Corrections in 1973 and later worked as the director of a group home for girls in Lebanon. When the entrepreneurial bug fit Ms. Wright in 1981, she resigned from the Department of Corrections and opened her own travel agency with one Nashville office. The agency has since grown to 28 office locations in seven states with $128 million in annual sales.

In 1989, she was named Nashville's Small Business Executive of the Year in a competition sponsored by the Nashville Business Journal, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. She was selected in 1992 for the Distinguished Alumni Award at Middle Tennessee State University. In 1994, she was named Woman Business Owner of the Year by the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Ms. Wright is active in a number of professional, civic, and charitable organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Middle Tennessee State University Foundation, the Middle Tennessee State University President's Advisory Council, and the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Nashville. She has recently served on the Advisory Board for the YWCA and the Travel Weekly Advisory Board. She was previously President of the Nashville Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, Vice-Chairman of Small Business for the Nashville Chamber, and Vice-Chairman of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau. She has also served on the boards of Tennessee Leadership, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Nashville City Club, as well as on the United Way of Middle Tennessee Campaign Cabinet. She is a member of CABLE, Nashville Rotary, the National Association of Women Business Owners, and Leadership Nashville.

Ms. Wright has been quoted or featured in a number of regional and national publications and frequently speaks to various organizations about business and travel industry issues. Most recently, she was recognized as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Travel by Travel Agent magazine. She also authored "Let's Make A Deal", a how-to on business acquisitions and mergers, and was published in Travel Weekly last year.
