Orientation for Students - Transfer CUSTOMS

Transferring to a new college is an exciting new adventure. While you have collegiate experience, MTSU has its own resources, processes and ways to navigate campus. Transfer CUSTOMS allows you to experience MTSU in a short orientation, advising and registration program.

Orientation sessions are offered for transfer students who will be attending MTSU for the first time. CUSTOMS orientation is offered to accommodate different schedules. Registration is required and costs for the orientation apply.

How is Transfer CUSTOMS structured?

Transfer students needs vary based on your previous college experience.  Some of you are well equipped to understand how to be a successful student in a college environment.  Some of you may have had a much different experience at your previous institution, and want a more in-depth orientation to MTSU.  There are two options for transfer students.

  1. All transfer students are REQUIRED to complete CUSTOMS Online, our online informational modules to acquaint you with the resources on campus and the knowledge to prepare you to be a successful student at MTSU.
  2. On campus CUSTOMS experience -  You can choose to come to campus for a more in-depth orientation to campus by selecting one of the on-campus Transfer CUSTOMS session.  You will spend one day with our students and campus administration learning your way around campus and meeting other students.  You will receive information about your academic major and will be scheduled for an advising appointment and course registration that day.
  3. VIRTUAL Advising & Registration only- You can choose to participate only in VIRTUAL Advising and not an on-campus CUSTOMS orientation to campus experience.  By choosing one of the virtual transfer CUSTOMS dates, you will be participating in only virtual advising and registration on that date.
