Dyslexia Success Series Workshops

Registration and refreshments 8-8:30. Workshop 8:30 - 11:30.
Unless otherwise noted, the events will take place at the TN Center for Dyslexia, Room 116

Language Bootcamp
Hannah Krimm, M.S., CCC-SLP, CDP
Parents will become equipped with a basic understanding of the structure of written English so they can actively engage in discussions regarding their child’s literacy strengths, weaknesses, and intervention needs. Attendees will define terms and gain an increased knowledge about phonological awareness, orthography, and morphology in support of reading achievement.

Stimulating Children’s Listening, Speaking, and Reading Skills to Support Literacy Development
Tammy Hutchings, M.S., CCC-SLP
This workshop will target listening, speaking, and reading development in children from birth to adolescence with a special focus on how these language skills affect reading development. This workshop will further explore evaluation of language and reading disorders. Attendees will learn about language development, language disorders, and reading disorders, particularly dyslexia. Strategies to foster speaking, listening, and reading skills will also be included.
