MTSU is one of the fastest growing institutions of higher education in the State of Tennessee. The university has approximately 26,000 students, with over 3000 graduate students actively engaged in post baccalaureate programs.
We offer over 35 different graduate degrees (certificate, masters, specialist and doctoral) with more than 70 majors or concentrations. All graduate programs are approved by the State Tennessee and are fully accredited.
MTSU constantly surveys emerging employment trends in the region and the U.S. to develop new graduate programs for our students. As an example, the University is in the process of developing new innovative, interdisciplinary graduate programs. More and more employers are looking for graduates with the ability to work across disciplines in a team environment. Therefore, the university is helping students develop interdisciplinary knowledge, while also requiring them to develop in-depth, doctoral-level expertise in a single discipline that will help them excel in the workplace.
Admission to the College of Graduate Studies is a dual process: the applicant first has to be accepted by the College of Graduate Studies, and then has to be accepted by the graduate degree program of their choice. The first step in applying to graduate school at MTSU is to apply online. If you have problems, contact the Graduate Analyst in the College of Graduate Studies who oversees the discipline in which you are interested.
