Humanities Minor

Welcome to the Minor in Humanities!

Through the minor in Humanities, we explore ways in which various peoples throughout history and across geographic boundaries have expressed ideals and values rooted in their understanding of the human condition.  In an era of global conflict (consider recent events prompted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, debate over the potential attainment of nuclear capabilities in Asian nations, numerous school shootings/acts of group violence in the U.S., etc.) it is crucial that we understand the people and cultures of the world in their infinite variety in order to better determine our place and our role within it.  We focus on the cultural artifacts devised by human beings in our quest for this knowlege, including languages, literatures, film, art, and cultures in the broadest sense. The Humanities Minor is a path of exploration.

With engaging faculty and a wide variety of course offerings, the 15 hour minor composed of lower and upper-division courses in the Humanities (HUM) rubric, the Humanities Minor is a nice complement to any major.
