Employment

Seeking Employment:

MTSU’s Career Development Center (CDC) assists students with all aspects of the career decision-making and job search processes.  Kathy Creel is our Veterans Career Advisor in the CDC. She can help you with creating a targeted resume and cover letter, as well as developing interviewing and networking skills which highlight your military service and experiences. Further, she coaches you on connecting with businesses for internships and fulltime employment, particularly those interested in hiring veterans, military, and military family members.

You can also stop by the Veterans and Military Family Center and talk to Heather Conrad (KUC 124), the VetSuccess on Campus counselor. As a VA employee, she can provide you with vocational exploration, assistance in selecting a suitable career/major, as well as job placement, and coordination with local veterans’ employment representatives and training services.

Lightning CareerLink (LCL) is MTSU’s online database for professional entry-level positions and supervised internships that prepare students for professional career fields.  Lightning CareerLink is the first place employers connect with our students, and positions are continually updated.  This is a closed database for MTSU students and alumni, and is a great resource for our community.  Log in often!

Seeking Employees:

Employers interested in holding interviews at the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center (VMFC), should contact Dr. Hilary Miller, VMFC Director. She will be glad to discuss partnership opportunities.  Please create an employer profile in Lightning CareerLink, and post all available positions as your first step in recruiting at MTSU. Employer event announcements and registration is also managed through this system, and we want to keep in touch!  Once available, you may also request access to the Veterans’ Resume Book in LCL.

VetSuccess on Campus Services:

VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) is a Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) program – and Middle Tennessee State University is a location spot! VSOC counselors are trained to provide academic and vocational guidance to Veterans, and help connect them to other VA benefits, including health care and mental health services. The VSOC counselors maintain close relationships with local VA Vet Centers and VA medical facilities, referring service members, Veterans and dependents as needed and providing assistance applying for VA medical and nonmedical benefits. Their main goal is to ensure your academic and future accomplishments by making sure you have all the necessary tools and knowledge to do so.
