Sissom is one of two repeat performers on the list that was released by the C-USA Office Thursday. UAB's Deanna Kuzmanic is the other two-time nominee. Sissom and Kuzmanic join Taylor Stahly, Louisiana Tech; Erica Ogwumike, Rice; and Ivy Brown, WKU on the team.

"I'm trying to get into graduate school so it has been very important for me to keep my grades up and do well in the classroom," Sissom said. "Doing well in the classroom has always been something both of my parents have stressed. My mom (Suzette) is a teacher so it is natural that there would be as much as an emphasis placed on academics as athletics.

"It is an honor to be named to this team and be part of this group," Sissom added. "I've competed against all of them and they are all strong competitors."

Sissom, the daughter of Gaylon and Suzette, has been named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll three previous seasons. She sports a 3.69 grade point average in Pre Physical Therapy/Exercise Science.

In addition to being a top-flight student in the classroom, Sissom is a strong all-around performer on the court. She leads the Lady Raiders in scoring (12.2), assists (3.4), 3-point percentage (.400) and minutes. In fact, Sissom leads the conference in minutes (37.7) and is 14th nationally.

"I believe it is important to be there for your teammates and for your team," Sissom said. "I like that my team counts on me, and I want to be accountable to every girl out there."

Sissom is among C-USA leaders in seven different categories, including scoring, assists, assist/turnover ratio, 3-point field goal percentage, 3-point field goals made, free-throw percentage and minutes.

Sissom is sixth on the career 3-point field goal percentage list at Middle Tennessee with a 37 percent mark, and she is in the Top 10 all-time for 3-point field goals made with 180.
