King, a transfer from Alabama, already has his bachelor's degree in Business Management. King previously received academic honors in both his freshman and sophomore seasons at Memphis before finishing his undergraduate studies in Tuscaloosa.

Despite only being at Middle Tennessee for one season, King has compiled a 3.75 GPA while working on his Masters of Science in Health and Human Performance.

"Nick is a very intelligent guy," head coach Kermit Davis said. "The master's program has meant a lot to him. He earned his business degree on time at Alabama and is just one of those guys who takes care of his business. He's a real mature guy and this is a great honor for Nick."

On the court, King also has established himself as one of the premier players, not only in C-USA but in all of college basketball. He currently sits at second in C-USA and 18th in the country in scoring, averaging 21.5 points per contest. King is also ranked fifth in Conference USA in total rebounds, hauling in 8.3 boards per game.

His performance has helped lead the Blue Raiders to a 24-5 record, 16-1 mark in league play and their first AP Top 25 ranking in school history. That includes a regular season conference title and a school record 12 wins on the road.

King also leads the Blue Raiders this season in 20-point games (18), double-doubles (10) and has tied the school record for most career 30-point games (four), despite only playing in 29 games in Blue and White.

The Memphis native has been named Conference USA player of the week four times, the most of any player this season. For his on-the-court performance, King has also been named to the watch list for the Karl Malone award, given to the top power forward in the country, and the Lute Olsen Player of the Year award, given to the top player in division I to play at least two years.
