MTSU Chinese Music Ensemble

MTSU Chinese Music Ensemble, directed by Dr. Mei Han, is a registered course at the School of Music that is open to the entire student body. The ensemble strives to broaden cultural horizons of students. This hands-on practice of learning Chinese instruments and music enriches students' musical vocabulary, enhances their international competancy, and extends and strengthens their skills in music theory and music history. For performance, we place students in small and large ensemble settings. We perform various styles of music including traditional and contemporary Chinese compositions, original compositions, and fusions of musical styles from across the world. The Ensemble also serves the Middle Tennessee community through performances at MTSU and beyond. In recent years we have collaborated with North Texas University's Chinese Ensemble, toured to Western Kentucky University and North Georgia University, and were invited to perform in Washington D.C.. The Ensemble is proud to have members of all backgrounds including music majors, nonmusic majors, and even professors! Local community members are welcome and encouraged to join the Ensemble as well.
