Biography
Teaching and coaching have been a life-long passion for Andrea Rego. Rego holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Berry College (2014) and a Master of Science in Horse Science, focusing in Equine Education from Middle Tennessee State University (2016). Read More »Teaching and coaching have been a life-long passion for Andrea Rego. Rego holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Berry College (2014) and a Master of Science in Horse Science, focusing in Equine Education from Middle Tennessee State University (2016). In addition to teaching numerous courses in horse science and animal sciences for the School of Agriculture, Rego has led the MTSU Stock Horse team to national and reserve national champion team status seven times during her career. Rego has also assisted in coaching the MTSU equestrian team to becoming 2x IHSA national champion western team in 2023 and 2024. Rego has also coached numerous students to individual national success during her time at MTSU. In 2021 Rego was awarded MTSU’s Student Organization Advisor of the Year. She enjoys encouraging and mentoring students of all backgrounds to greater success while helping them develop their passion and skillset for their future career.Rego is recognized in the equine industry nationally with the Certified Horsemanship Association as a master instructor and actively competes professionally on a local and national level. While recognition of successes is always rewarding, Rego’s most treasured role at MTSU is coordinating the Center of Equine Recovery for Veterans (CERV), an equine assisted therapy program that has assisted over 150 veterans by providing mental health services with the Veteran Recovery Center in Murfreesboro. Rego has been committed to community service in the equine industry on local and national scale, serving as the educational liaison of the Tennessee Stock Horse association since 2018, the national secretary for the National Intercollegiate Ranch and Stock Horse Association since 2020, and the treasurer of the American Stock Horse Association since 2021. Rego has led students and members of the community as a teacher, coach, and advisor and looks forward to the continued impact she can make in the years to come.
