Biography

Dr. Becky McIntyre is a Research Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Reading History Initiative, a signature MTSU program that links Reading enhancement courses with U.S. History survey courses. Dr. McIntyre began teaching at MTSU in 2004 and served as the director of the Middle Tennessee History Day competition for six years. Dr. Becky McIntyre is a Research Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Reading History Initiative, a signature MTSU program that links Reading enhancement courses with U.S. History survey courses. Dr. McIntyre began teaching at MTSU in 2004 and served as the director of the Middle Tennessee History Day competition for six years. She is trained as a U.S. historian with a Ph.D. from The University of Alabama. Her research examines the intersection between tourism, memory, gender, and race. She has published articles and essays in numerous academic works and her book, Souvenirs of the Old South: Northern Tourism and Southern Mythology was published by the University Press of Florida in 2011. Currently she is working on grants and articles that focus on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in co-requisite classes.
