Biography

I am a historian of the Mexican War, and American antebellum period. My research focuses on American junior officers during the Mexican War and how these officers confronted issues such as race, anti-Catholicism, and professionalism. This research also looks at the ways in which the experiences of these officers altered American opinions on the merits of a professional standing army. I am currently expanding this research from a dissertation into what I hope will become my first book.
