Biography

Brandon Vagner, CPA, Associate Professor of Accounting and Director of the Master of Accountancy Program, began his career at KPMG (St. Louis) in external audit. Brandon Vagner, CPA, Associate Professor of Accounting and Director of the Master of Accountancy Program, began his career at KPMG (St. Louis) in external audit. After five years and a promotion to Audit Manager at KPMG, he left to pursue his Ph.D. at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. He now teaches graduate level auditing and undergraduate level financial accounting with a goal of bringing real-life experiences to the classroom and helping students achieve success academically and professionally. Vagner’s accounting research interests are in the effects of design elements, across a range of areas, on judgment and decision making as well as exploring workplace dynamics and perceptions through survey. His research has been published in journals such as Managerial Auditing Journal, Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research, and Journal of Theoretical Accounting Research. He and his wife, Kori, have two children – Walker (6) and Audra (5). They enjoy spending time outside and having fun with friends and family.
