Biography

Mr. Smith is a public health faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) teaching undergraduate courses and overseeing undergraduate internships. Mr. Smith is a public health faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) teaching undergraduate courses and overseeing undergraduate internships. Additionally, he works alongside MTSU Health Services as the Campus Health Promotion Coordinator overseeing health promotion efforts regarding mental health, substance use, and STI prevention across campus. Previously he worked as a Program Coordinator at the MTSU Office of Prevention Science and Recovery to evaluate community grants alongside the Rutherford Opioid Board, Williamson County Opioid Task Force, and Cannon County Opioid Abatement Task Force. Additionally in his previous role as a Program Coordinator with the Tennessee Department of Education, he managed 10 federally funded partnerships to improve student health across the State of Tennessee within local school districts. His areas of public health interest include K-12 health in schools, addressing opioid use disorder stigma, and cultivating public partnerships to address health disparities.
