He is a faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) , private practitioner, researcher, author and Chief Executive Mental Health Service Provider and Founder of Overcome/Teague & Associates. At MTSU he creates an environment in which students can learn in his general psychology, issues and ethics, and apprenticeship classes. Dr. Teague frequently conducts research with his students in order to introduce them to the process of scientific research but first and foremost critical thinking. He knows that his role as a faculty member goes beyond the classroom as he hopes to be a positive and approachable person in his students lives whenever needed.
As a private practitioner, Dr. Teague works with adolescents, adults, and couples at Overcome/Teague & Associates. He offers prayerful treatment based in faith-centered and scientific "like-minded" interpretations of truth in his client's lives. Dr. Teague entered the counseling profession because he believes that everyone can be successful in life with the right support, increased self-awareness and insight that is unique to their life situations. He really enjoys seeing people be successful at leading a peaceful life. As a researcher, Dr. Teague has conducted studies on the effects of father absence in the lives of children and adolescents, attitudes toward abortion, educational performance, and developmental trauma in children and adolescents, to name a few. He has had manuscripts related to marriage, educational motivation, and developmental trauma published in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Teague has also developed an assessment for children and adolescents that assesses for Developmental Trauma. As a author, Dr. Teague has written six (6) books.
Dr. Teague founded the Christ-centered non-profit organization called United Responsible Fathers of America (URFA) - now doing business as Overcome/Teague & Associates - in 2005. URFA focused for many years on the enhancement of the family and today the organization continues to focus on the enhancement of families by providing certain services and resources. These services and resources included professional counseling, family research, fatherhood support, motherhood support, broken family support, family court support and consultation, mediation, life coaching, health coaching, financial skills development, attorney referral, and development and administering educational information. Dr. Teague decided to operate under the name Overcome in order to broaden the scope of services provided by the organization while maintaining the spirit of the mission to empower individuals and families.

The name of this integrated courseware learning activity is called Pseudo Mental Health Clinic. This courseware will be designed for learners in higher education who are enrolled in psychology, counseling and social work programs. The courseware will consist of different levels of exercises pertaining abnormal psychology and mental health counseling as it relates to mental health disorder diagnosis. That is, learners will be able to participate in exercises in which they build and demonstrate their knowledge of a particular diagnosis and/or attempt to diagnose a video or simulation of a “pretend” client (pseudo client). The pseudo client will present his or her problem to the learner and the learner will be able to use recognition (multiple – choice) or recall (short answer) in order to respond to the client’s information and presentation. After the learner decides on a diagnosis he or she will then indicate why the specific diagnosis was chosen, while also including a differential diagnosis. The learner will be given feedback after his or her response. The feedback will consist of the correct response and a statement(s) that illustrates a thinking process that includes a differential diagnosis. This will increase the opportunity for meaningful learning. Lessons that include practice exercises allow for the integration of new knowledge into prior knowledge (Clark and Mayer, 2003).
