Biography
Not to be confused with the former baseball player (and hero of the 1995 World Series), I teach US history surveys and a thematic survey course on the US in the 21st century. My research focuses on the implications of American popular culture on US diplomacy and larger global trends. I am currently working on two projects. One focuses on protest music in the emo subculture (pop-punk, emo, and screamo) during the Global War on Terror, and the other focuses on Spain's role in American society and culture after the death of Francisco Franco.
