Biography
Dez Dickerson, who teaches Performance Skills for Artists and Songwriters, was the original guitarist for Prince and a founding member of Prince’s band the Revolution. He played the guitar solo on “Little Red Corvette” and sang harmonies. Dickerson also sang co-lead with Prince on 1999, and he appeared as a solo artist in the film Purple Rain.

He played the guitar solo on “Little Red Corvette” and sang harmonies. Dickerson also sang co-lead with Prince on 1999, and he appeared as a solo artist in the film Purple Rain.
Dickerson performed many roles in his 49+ years in the music industry: artist, musician, producer, songwriter, entertainment and marketing executive, author, and entrepreneur.
As a member of the Revolution, he toured the U.S. and Europe extensively, as well as appearing on numerous network television programs (Saturday Night Live, American Bandstand, Solid Gold, Midnight Special, etc.) and in nine music videos broadcast on MTV, VH-1 and other outlets. He also wrote songs for Warner Bros. recording artists The Time and Vanity 6.
Dickerson has worked as producer/executive producer on more than 80 albums, which have garnered a total of 19 Dove award nominations (winning 5) and one Grammy nomination. His guitar solo on “Little Red Corvette” was ranked one of the best 100 guitar solos of all time (No. 64) by readers of Guitar World.
Dickerson chronicled his involvement in the meteoric rise of the pop icon in his 2003 autobiography, My Time With Prince. He is now president and CEO of Pavilion Entertainment.
