When we grow, we change.
When we change, we desire.
When we desire, we need.
When we need, we ask.
When we ask, we learn.
When we learn to ask, we grow. — Dr. O, 3 June 2011
The three R’s learning cycle:
1) Review what you’ve done.
2) Reflect on the what, how, and why of what you’ve done.
3) Revise your plan based on your reflection.
Next, try your new plan and apply the three R’s. – Dr. O, June 14, 2011
Arithmetic begins at the knowledge level of Bloom's, but mathematics starts at the analysis level. Dr. O
If you merely "think" you know how to work a type of problem, then you don't know it well enough. Practice the correct process more. Dr. O, June 30, 2011
Most folks can make things more difficult than they need to be. The real trick is to allow things to be merely as hard as they are. Dr. O
"The true test of character is not how much we know how to do, but how we behave when
we don't know what to do."
-John Holt
"The first step to wisdom is silence; the second is listening." -Unknown
"Many a good person has failed because they had their wishbone where their backbone should have been." -Unknown
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.

It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and
discipline that enabled us to follow through.
- Zig Ziglar
Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world. Set a goal and don't quit until
you attain it. When you do attain it, set another goal, and don't quit until you reach
it. Never quit.
- Bear Bryant
“When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it:
1. Admit it. 2. Learn from it, and 3. Don't repeat it.”
- Bear Bryant
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
According to Bill Gates
Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
- Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
- Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about your self.
- Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
- Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
- Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
- Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
- Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
- Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
- Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
- Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
- Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

“There is no I in TEAM, but there is an I in WIN, and that I stands for three things:
- INTENSITY, which is mental energy in what you do. It projects well.
- IMMEDIACY, which means right now is the time I’ve got to focus and so what I’ve got to do to make this work. And the other thing is
- INTELLIGENCE, being smart about how you go about what you do.
That will help you win and will help you be positive.”
– Nick Saban, Head Football Coach, University of Alabama, addressing the 71st Annual Alabama Boys State, June, 2008.
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
