Mr. Duane Vanhook brings to the Construction Management Program teaching experience as well as over 20 years of construction experience. Read More »Mr. Duane Vanhook brings to the Construction Management Program teaching experience as well as over 20 years of construction experience. A TN licensed Residential & small Commercial general contractor and Limited Liability Electrical Contractor, has also served as a general contractor, construction superintendent and subcontractor in the field of residential construction and light commercial. His extensive knowledge of the home building and residential development industry allows him to teach from a real-world point of view. He is a Life Director of the Middle Tennessee HBA and the National Association of Home Builders, who served as Chairman of the NAHB Student Chapters Advisory Board in 2013-2014 and Wilson County Chapter President for HBAMT between 2007-2010. Duane Vanhook, an Associate Professor of Construction Management and director of the Land Development and Residential Building program at MTSU, is currently serving as a Past President to the Home Builders Association of Tennessee. Professor Vanhook was elected by HBAT Directors from 12 local associations to serve in the position of Area Vice President 2017-2019, a Senior officer ladder Vice President between 2020-2021, confirmed as Association President in 2022, and now serves as a Past President and Life Director of that association.
In other non related items has volunteered at Immanuel BaptistChurch in Lebanon TN as a sunday school teacher and RA Director several years; coached Little League Baseball between 1986-1995; Mt Juliet High School Freshman Baseball coach 1995-1997 and Mt Juilet High School Bowling Head Coach between 1998-2000; and was a Senior Officer and Construction committee chair for Wilson County Habitat for Humanity 2008-2011.
