Biography
Dr. Cottle is a 25+ year textile/apparel industry veteran who joined MTSU's program of Textiles, Merchandising, and Design in 2013. He has held varying roles in the industry such as industrial engineering, manufacturing management, accounting, marketing, and sales. He teaches basic and advanced textiles (fiber to fabric) as well as varying apparel focused business courses. Read More »Dr. Cottle is a 25+ year textile/apparel industry veteran who joined MTSU's program of Textiles, Merchandising, and Design in 2013. He has held varying roles in the industry such as industrial engineering, manufacturing management, accounting, marketing, and sales. He teaches basic and advanced textiles (fiber to fabric) as well as varying apparel focused business courses. He was a member of MTSU Faculty Senate (2017-2020) and served as President of Faculty Senate (2021). Dr. Cottle was elected as a Trustee to the MTSU Board of Trustees serving a two year term from 2021 to 2023. He is the NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative for MTSU

Research / Scholarly Activity
Dr. Cottle's research stream focuses on analysis of high dimensional data generated by Three Dimensional (3D) Body Scanning as it pertains to the fit of apparel items to the human body, human health and wellness, and measuring physical activity intervention methods. The contribution to the textile and apparel field is the development of a definition of human body form and classification of human body form with the intent to improve the sizing and fit of apparel items.
