James Flatt is an accomplished leader with a rich background in agriculture, business, and marketing. As the Director of Middle Tennessee State University's Farm Laboratories, James brings his extensive expertise in livestock agriculture and farm business management as well as his small business ownership skills from a career in lawn care, landscape design, and tree management. James's diverse career has also included significant roles in the business and marketing sectors, where he worked with well-known lifestyle brands like Wrangler Jeans and Lewis Cattle Oilers, a cattle equipment company. A Tennessee Tech University graduate and former National FFA Officer, James has consistently demonstrated his passion for continuous learning and community engagement. In addition to his professional roles, James actively contributes to the agricultural community through his work on the American Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers National Committee, and the Honeybee Tennessee Foundation. Whether he’s managing the university farm, engaging with students, or contributing to his family farm, James exemplifies leadership, dedication, and a tireless work ethic.
