Biography
Dr. Holton was raised in Nashville and received his BA in International Affairs/Soviet & East European Studies from The George Washington University. He returned to GWU and got his Ph.D. in History, having written a dissertation entitled, "The Best Education Provided’: A Social History of School Integration in Polk County, Florida, 1963-1994." Read More »Dr. Holton was raised in Nashville and received his BA in International Affairs/Soviet & East European Studies from The George Washington University. He returned to GWU and got his Ph.D. in History, having written a dissertation entitled, "The Best Education Provided’: A Social History of School Integration in Polk County, Florida, 1963-1994." Dr. Holton taught at Warner University, in Lake Wales, Florida. He supervised a student led oral history project that recorded the impact of 2004's Hurricane Charley, which inflicted major damage on the campus and the county. He was active in local history and edited the Polk County Historical Quarterly.
Dr. Holton enjoys cycling in his spare time and further exploring his family's genealogy.
