Biography
I joined the English Department at Middle Tennessee State University as a Lecturer in Fall 2022 and I am also currently a PhD candidate in English at the University of Florida. For the past decade, I have taught writing and literature to undergraduate students in various topics and modalities. I am passionate about teaching and helping students, particularly those coming from historically underserved or marginalized backgrounds, feel comfortable in the classroom in order to develop strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Research / Scholarly Activity
My research focuses on contemporary Latinx literature, particularly auto- and semi-autobiographical texts as this relates to my experiences as a Mexican American, first-generation college student. I am also interested in composition studies, first-year writing curriculum, and on a more personal note, surveillance technologies, as well as pop culture.
