Dr. Kristi Stringer, a native of Murfreesboro, holds a deep affection for her community. As an Assistant Professor of Community and Public Health at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), her career is distinguished by groundbreaking research in health related stigma. Specifically, she studies stigma related to HIV, substance use, and criminal justice involement. She studies these independently, but also she studies the interection of these stigmas as well as stigmas related to gender, race, sexuality, and poverty. Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Stringer's unwavering commitment to community service shines through her role in a harm reduction organization focused on providing vital harm reduction supplies and education to Nashville's homeless population
