Biography

Kyle Kennedy is Professor and Head of Acting in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Middle Tennessee State University. He received his MFA in Acting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993, after which he worked extensively as an actor Off-Broadway and in regional theatre. Kyle Kennedy is Professor and Head of Acting in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Middle Tennessee State University. Regional credits include A History of the American Film and The Revenger's Tragedy (Williamstown Theatre Festival), A Midsummer's Night Dream and The Front Page (Asolo Repertory Theatre, Sarasota, FL.), Florida Studio Theatre (Sarasota FL.), Jobsite Theatre Company (Tampa, FL.), Creede Repertory Theatre (Creed, CO.), and Live Oak Theatre (Austin, TX.).  At Cortland Repertory Theatre in Upstate New York, Professor Kennedy has played various roles, including Morgan in The Drawer Boy, Lord Queensbury in Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, and Lt. Col. Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men.  Film and television credits include The Ballad of the Sad Cafe (by Academy Award winning producer Merchant-Ivory Productions), and a guest star role in the new MacGyver television series.  Professor Kennedy studied Shakespeare with Sir Peter Hall, and Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. He is a specialist in Meisner Technique, and completed an intensive teacher training program at the Neighborhood Playhouse in 2006. Professor Kennedy is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and is an eligible member of Actors' Equity Association. He is also an active member in the Tennessee Theatre Association and the Southeastern Theatre Conference.
