Biography

Dr. Miao is currently Professor and Coordinator of Mechatronics Engineering at Middle Tennessee State University. He earned Ph.D. degree from Boston University, Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Northeastern University of China, in 2006, 2001, and 1998, respectively. Dr. Miao is currently Professor and Coordinator of Mechatronics Engineering at Middle Tennessee State University. He earned Ph.D. degree from Boston University, Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Northeastern University of China, in 2006, 2001, and 1998, respectively. From 2006 to 2009, he was with Nortel Networks in Billerica, MA and developed ultra-high-speed Ethernet Routing Switches and several IEEE protocols, including IEEE 802.1ah Provider Backbone Bridges. From 2009 to 2011, he was a visiting assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati. From 2011 to 2014, he was a wireless networking and software engineer with NuVo Technologies/Legrand North America. In this role, he designed, optimized, and tested NuVo wireless whole-home audio systems in embedded Linux environment. From 2014 to 2015, he was Assistant Professor at the State University of New York Farmingdale. He joined MTSU in 2015 as an assistant professor and was promoted to Associate Professor and Professor in 2020 and 2024, respectively. He has had over 10 years R&D experience in system control and optimization, wireless networks, information systems, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). He has had over 30 publications in referred conferences and journals, including IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, and IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems.
