Matt Foglia is a Professor in the Department of Recording Industry at MTSU who focuses on sound for picture; a re-recording mixer and sound designer known for his work with Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney, among others; and Editor of the Cinema Audio Society magazine CAS Quarterly.

Matt was a 14-year veteran of the New York City sound for picture industry before joining MTSU as an Associate Professor in the Fall of 2008 (being promoted to Professor in 2014). While in NYC, Matt was an audio engineer for Sony Music Studios before taking the post of Chief Audio Engineer for PostWorks New York in 2001. Matt has mixed hundreds of hours of television programming for networks such as A&E, Comedy Central, Discovery, ESPN, Food Network, HBO, MTV, PBS, Travel, truTV, and VH1. Having a strong musical background, Matt has had the privilege of working on numerous music-based TV and DVD projects for artists including Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Ozzy Osbourne, My Morning Jacket, Phish, and Coldplay. He has two Emmy Award nominations, including one for a Paul McCartney TV special. Matt also has four Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Award nominations, including two wins for a Bruce Springsteen TV project and another Paul McCartney project. Matt was the sound mixer for the 2007 Grammy Award winning Best Long Form Video "Wings For Wheels," which documented the making of Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run" album. On the film front, Matt has worked on a number of independent projects as well as those released through studios such as Miramax and Sony Pictures. He has recorded many actors and artists including Harrison Ford, Dave Chappelle, Liev Schreiber, Kirsten Dunst, Diana Ross, Dave Matthews, Whoopi Goldberg, and Edie Falco, as well as Oscar winners Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins.

Matt grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, before moving to Orlando prior to high school. In Florida, he was introduced to the recording studio while being the lead guitarist for an as-yet-to-be discovered Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty). That encounter, along with his love of music and physics, led Matt to study audio engineering in North Carolina, earning his Bachelor of Science in Music Technology from UNC at Asheville. Matt then moved to NYC and climbed the recording studio ladder while completing his Masters of Music in Music Technology at New York University (where he also served as an Adjunct Professor).

Matt has served as Editor of the CAS Quarterly since 2007, Coordinator of MTSU's Audio Production program since 2017, and continues to mix TV and streaming shows. Recent TV credits include The Osbournes Want to Believe (Travel Channel), Paranormal Caught on Camera (Travel Channel), Customer Wars (A&E), Road Wars (A&E), and World’s Dumbest (truTV).

Matt teaches courses at the undergraduate and graduate level including: RIM 3010 - Audio Fundamentals; RIM 4200 - Digital Audio Technology; RIM 4400 - Recording Studio Techniques; RIM 4575 - Sound Effects Design For Picture; RIM 4580 - Sound For Picture; RIM 4585 - Advanced Sound For Picture; RIM 4714 – Immersive Mixing for Music and Picture; MRAT 6120 - Sound For Visual Media; MRAT 6125 - Remote Production; MRAT 6210 - Production Seminar III
