Biography

Maurício Gargel is Assistant Professor in the Recording Industry Department with a master’s degree in Recording Arts and Technology from Middle Tennessee State University. He also studied in the College of Education at MTSU where he advanced his career as an educator.

Maurício Gargel is Assistant Professor in the Recording Industry Department with a master’s degree in Recording Arts and Technology from Middle Tennessee State University. He also studied in the College of Education at MTSU where he advanced his career as an educator.

With a career spanning more than 35 years as an audio engineer, Gargel collaborates in many areas of professional audio, including live sound, recording and acoustic design and optimization. He also runs his own mastering studio and works with clients from all over the world. He has worked as a speaker in countries such as the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.

His research focuses on recording and mixing for immersive audio (often referred to as 3D audio), an experience where sound may be perceived to arrive from any direction around the listener, including above and below.Thanks to the accumulated knowledge, he is a professor capable of thinking in a diversified way and dealing with a wide variety of artistic projects.
