Biography

Mike Osborne has taught radio news for Middle Tennessee State University's School of Journalism & Strategic Media since 2017.  Mike served as News Director for MTSU's 100,000-watt FM radio station, WMOT, for 12 years. He retired from the university in 2023.

Mike's radio career began at the age of 14 for high school station WRCJ-FM in Cincinnati, Ohio. His first paid radio gig was with WKFI radio in Wilmington, Ohio, beginning at 16.

For 20 years, Mike served as the English Service host for international shortwave radio station KNLS out of Anchor Point, Alaska. During his years with KNLS, Mike generated listener mail from more than 100 nations and every continent, including Antarctica.

Mike has won numerous news industry awards, including eight first place journalism awards from the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors Association.
