Dr. Mohammad Arif Hossain is an Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering in the Department of Engineering Technology at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) under the supervision of Distinguished Professor Nirwan Ansari.

Dr. Hossain’s research focuses on AI-assisted computing, AI for cybersecurity, AI-enabled next-generation wireless networks, and AI-powered Internet of Things (IoT). He has authored and co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications in premier IEEE journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, and the IEEE Internet of Things Journal, as well as flagship conferences such as IEEE ICC and IEEE ICIP. His research has also been enriched by an industry research internship, providing valuable insight into the practical applications of emerging intelligent network systems. An active contributor to IEEE standardization activities, Dr. Hossain has made substantial technical contributions to groups such as IEEE 802.15.7r1, IEEE 802.15 TG7, and IEEE 802.15 IG DEP, with more than 25 formal submissions. He also holds a patent in his area of expertise.

Beyond research and standardization, Dr. Hossain serves as a reviewer for leading IEEE and Springer journals, including IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, and the IEEE Internet of Things Journal. He has also served as a committee member of the 2026 IEEE SaTC, and on the Technical Program Committees (TPCs) of major conferences such as 2026 IEEE WCNC, 2025 IEEE WF-IoT, 2025 ACM/IEEE SEC, and 2022 IEEE HPSR.
