        Dr. Mohammed Albakry is a Professor of English Linguistics at Middle Tennessee State University. His research in language studies is interdisciplinary and often takes up the intersection between discourse and society, language and education, and translation theory and practice.         Dr. Mohammed Albakry is a Professor of English Linguistics at Middle Tennessee State University. His research in language studies is interdisciplinary and often takes up the intersection between discourse and society, language and education, and translation theory and practice. Awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award from the MTSU Foundation, his work has garnered grants and fellowships from Fulbright, The University of Connecticut’s Humanities Institute, The Center of Language Education and Cooperation (Hanban), and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). His book publications include Writing Recommendation Letters: The Discourse of Evaluation in Academic Settings (Michigan University Press), "Translation and the Intersection of Texts, Contexts, and Politics" (Palgrave Macmillan), and "Tahrir Tales: Plays from the Egyptian Revolution" (Seagull Books/University of Chicago Press)He has also published refereed articles in such journals as Journal of College Reading and Learning, World EnglishesEnglish World-WideEducational TheoryLanguage & Literature, and Text & Talk, among other venues. He is currently working on new projects on presentation of self in academic support genres, and the quest for fidelity in translation. A practicing translator, he hosts "OnTranslation,an education podcast dedicated to the discussion of the major issues and controversies of translation from the classical past to the global present.
