Read More »My past and current research is aimed at determining the immediate and short-term metabolic and cardiovascular responses to a variety of exercise interventions, including the combined and unique influence of exercise (continuous, moderate-intensity exercise, high-intensity exercise, and high-intensity interval exercise) and meal nutrient composition, functional foods, pharmacological agents and modest weight loss on cardiovascular and metabolic health in healthy populations and those with chronic diseases (e.g., overweight and obese, those with metabolic syndrome and/or chronic kidney disease).
Biography
Dr. Grandjean joins Middle Tennessee State University with more than 30 years of experience in higher education. He has authored or co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and conference proceedings, and has delivered as many invited presentations, symposia, and tutorials. He has a strong and consistent record of external grant and contract funding. Read More »Dr. Grandjean joins Middle Tennessee State University with more than 30 years of experience in higher education. He has authored or co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and conference proceedings, and has delivered as many invited presentations, symposia, and tutorials. He has a strong and consistent record of external grant and contract funding. Dr. Grandjean is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, and active member of the American Physiological Society, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He was a dedicated board member and was elected President in both the Southeast (2011) and the Texas (2015) Chapters of the American College of Sports Medicine.
As the Division Director of Health Professions and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at Baylor University, he strengthened the research portfolio and led faculty efforts to develop innovative graduate programs in several health professions. He also worked closely with military health care administration as part of the Army-Baylor Graduate Programs.
Dr. Grandjean most recently served as dean in the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Mississippi. From 2019 to 2024, Grandjean oversaw one of the largest, fastest-growing, and innovative schools on the Ole Miss campus. The School of Applied Sciences, which seeks to improve the health and well-being of people and communities across Mississippi and the region, enjoyed a 25% growth in enrollment, added eight new graduate degree programs, fourteen new undergraduate minors, initiated an interdisciplinary living and learning community, and bolstered its research imprint from $8 million in 2019 to more than $11 million in external funding received in fiscal year 2023.
