Biography

As an adjunct faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University and a doctoral student in Social Work at Saint Louis University, Scott’s lived experience with religious and cultural trauma, addiction, recovery, and reinvention informs his teaching, research, and therapeutic practice. His work centers on empowerment-structured mentorship and inclusive approaches to recovery. As an adjunct faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University and a doctoral student in Social Work at Saint Louis University, Scott’s lived experience with religious and cultural trauma, addiction, recovery, and reinvention informs his teaching, research, and therapeutic practice. His work centers on empowerment-structured mentorship and inclusive approaches to recovery. He has published on minority rights and on educational access for incarcerated individuals, presented at conferences on the importance of inclusion, and awarded grants to develop high-impact learning initiatives. As a therapist with As You Are Therapy, Scott continues to serve clients across Tennessee while advancing resilience-focused scholarship and promoting social change.
