Biography
Shelly Peiken, a multiplatinum Grammy-nominated songwriter, teaches the Pop/Rock Songwriting Workshop online from Los Angeles. She is best known for her No. 1 hits "What a Girl Wants" and "Come On Over Baby” by Christina Aguilera and the No. 2 hit “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks, which earned Peiken her first Grammy nomination.

Peiken also has written for or with Britney Spears, The Pretenders, Natasha Bedingfield, Keith Urban, Celine Dion, Cher, Reba McEntire, Jessie J, Miley Cyrus, and Ed Sheeran. Hundreds of her songs have been placed on albums and in TV and film.
Her second Grammy nomination was for the audiobook Confessions of a Serial Songwriter, her memoir about songwriting. Peiken also hosts a Serial Songwriter Facebook page, a forum for discussing all things songwriting and ideas about navigating a changing music business.
She is a music industry mentor, panelist, consultant, and guest speaker, and is a fierce advocate of creators’ rights as a founding member of SONA (Songwriters of North America).
Peiken recently made an album of her own (2.0 etc…) with new songs and reinterpretations of hits co-written with other artists.
She was honored as Best Singer-Songwriter at the 2020 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
