Biography

Tyler A. Babb graduated from the MTSU Professional Pilot program in 2007. He then worked as a flight instructor/check instructor/chief ground instructor at MTSU's flight school from 2007-2008 while attending graduate school at night.

Tyler A. Babb graduated from the MTSU Professional Pilot program in 2007. He then worked as a flight instructor/check instructor/chief ground instructor at MTSU's flight school from 2007-2008 while attending graduate school at night.

In 2008, shortly after completing his Masters of Education at MTSU, he was hired by Corporate Flight Management to fly as a charter pilot. He was type rated in the Learjet 35A (LJ35) and Embraer Phenom 100 (EMB 500). His charter trips included destinations in 43 states, Canada, the Bahamas, and Mexico.

In 2011 he began working as a maintenance apprentice for the same company. In 2012, he was promoted to Audit Administrator and Training Coordinator for the 145 Repair Station and 135 Charter operation.

He joined the MTSU Aerospace Department as an assistant professor in August 2013 and taught lower-division courses such as Theory of Flight (AERO 1020), Aviation Weather (AERO 2010) and Professional Pilot I (AERO 2230). In 2017, he was appointed as coordinator of the professional pilot degree program. In 2019 he was tenured and promoted to associate professor.

He and his wife and two children live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
