The syllabus provide much of the basic administrative details about the course. I will be posting some of the hand-outs from class as I get them prepared.
There are a number of specific objectives for the course.
- To teach the process of keeping a good lab notebook as a thorough and reliable record of scientific inquiry.
- Practice in preparing written lab reports.
- The use of graphical analysis both as a means of conveying information and as a means of testing the veracity of physical models.
- Procedures for dealing with uncertainties in measurements and how to combine uncertainties to determine the extent to which theory and experiemnt agree.
- Develop the ability to think critically about how to structure and perform experiments and how to improve and refine experiments.
Handouts
- Lab Notebook and Lab Write-up Format (see Syllabus above)
