Highlights

•For outstanding service to broadcast journalism in Tennessee, Anne Holt was inducted into the first class of the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame. •Anne Holt has worked nearly 40 years in the television industry - more than 30 of those anchoring the news on WKRN News 2 in Nashville. •Holt is an eight-time Emmy Award winning journalist, and is a recipient of the coveted George Foster Peabody Award for the investigative documentary "Under the Influence." •One of 13 children born to a family of sharecroppers in West Tennessee, Holt received her education from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and immediately went to work for the local television station, WATE-TV. •She moved to Nashville in 1976 as reporter and weekend anchor for News 2. In 1980, she became primary anchor. •Holt has received countless awards and honors including the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences highest honor: "The Governor's Award for Lifetime Achievement." She's a recipient of the "Distinguished Service Award from the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters. With that honor she earned the distinction of being the first woman, the first African American and the first news anchor to receive the award. •In 1994, she was awarded the Jerry Thompson Communicator's Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nashville Conference on Community and Justice. She was also honored in 1994 with the Donald G. Hileman Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Tennessee College of Communications. •Her passion for helping others has led to News 2's 28-year partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. The station's "Food-2-Families Campaign" has collected millions of pounds of food thru area schools, while raising hunger awareness and compassion among a new generation. •Anne has served on the boards of Book'em, Leadership Nashville, Cumberland Valley Girl Scouts, Middle Tennessee March of Dimes, Inroads/Nashville, United Way of Middle Tennessee, and numerous non-profit fundraising committees
