In today's work force many employees find themselves with increasing responsibilities at both home and work. Providing care for an older adult may be one of your increasing responsibilities. Whether you have just begun to care for an older adult or your current caregiving situation has changed, it is important to familiarize yourself with some resources to assist you in your caregiving duties.

Employment Assistance Program, Magellan Health Services

Magellan Health provides easy to find, confidential assistance that is available every hour of every day. This service is offered by your employer at no cost to you. Contact the Here4TN at 855-437-3486.

MTSU Human Resources Department - Long Term Care Insurance

Effective July 1, 2003, the State of Tennessee began offering Long-Term Care Insurance (LTC) for employees, retirees and eligible family members (spouse, parents, parents-in-law and dependent children 18 to 24). Free Legal Clinic

The JAWC, with the help of the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, holds free legal clinics for all MTSU Students, Faculty and Staff. The attorneys offer non-binding consultation for a wide range of topics including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, landlord-tenant disputes, financial problems, and family issues. Appointments are necessary, as space is limited. To register or to get more information, please visit the Legal Aid Society's webpage or call 898-2193. Consultations are confidential.

National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc.

The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. is a non-profit association that assists lawyers, bar organizations and others who work with older clients and their families. Some of the issues NAELA members assist their clients with include, but are not limited to: public benefits, probate and estate planning, guardianship/conservatorship, and health and long-term care planning.

AgeWell Middle Tennessee

In 2021, the Council on Aging changed their name to AgeWell Middle Tennessee.

AgeWell Middle Tennessee is offering complimentary 30-minute consultations for elder caregivers. This individualized service is conducted by a geriatric care professional who will provide guidance and support to help caregivers navigate care options. To get started, caregivers can visit www.eldercarecoach.org

All information provided is kept confidential and only used to inform the care coach. Anyone unable to register online can call AgeWell's Helpline at 615.353.4235 and request help to schedule a phone consultation.

Provides older adults with information, assessment, and referral to community resources. Visit their website or call 1-866-836-6678 to be directed to your nearest Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD).

Aging Parents and Elder Care - Senior Care Resource

Providing care for our aging parents or elderly spouse can be very frustrating, with new surprises almost every day. Whether you provide eldercare for aging parents in your home, or manage elder care from a distance, most of us don't know where to go for reliable answers - or even what questions to ask. The State of Tennessee offers a National Family Caregiver Support Program to help families care for older relatives with chronic illness or disability in their homes.
