MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee tennis standout Francisco Rocha has been named to the Academic All-District At-Large team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Thursday afternoon.

Representing District 3, Rocha was chosen as one of the top NCAA Division I players from Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina, and was up against student-athletes from sports such as golf, wrestling, lacrosse, fencing, swimming, and gymnastics, in addition to other tennis players. The junior from Portugal enjoyed a breakout season in 2020-21 as he worked his way up to the No. 1 spot for the Blue Raiders and reached as high as #35 in the nation. In the spring, he went 13-6 for MTSU, helping the Raiders to their second-straight Conference USA Championship, while also clinching a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships.

Off the court, Rocha is just as impressive as he has a 4.0 GPA studying Economics and Business Administration.

His All-District selection adds to his list of accomplishments this season as he has also been named the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner, Conference USA Player of the Year, Conference USA All-Academic, and the MTSU President's Award winner.

Rocha joins Matthew Langley (2011, 2012) and Anant Sitaram (2005) as the only Blue Raiders to be named Academic All-District.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early August.
