The educational technologies in HONR 119 are far below the standard of other classrooms within the University Honors College. The computer (Dell Latitude e6400, acquired in 2009), the projector (NEC MT1065, manufactured in 2003), and the media cabinet (MLS 506SA MediaLink Switcher with no AMX controller) are out of date, consequently making instructors rely on their personal laptops for several tasks (PowerPoint, Excel, Prezi, internet use). Given the amount of multimedia use needed for that classroom (between biology and chemistry) and the number of students (approximately 254) who use the room every academic year, the system needs to be brought into line with technologies around campus, including the new Science Building. The University Honors College is therefore seeking TAF funding to upgrade HONR 119 to a Standard Master Classroom that would include: a new projector, a new PC, an AMX touch-screen controller, a new media cabinet, a ceiling-mounted ELMO (to project dissections and other science experiments to the class). We would like to keep the current ELMO, DVD player, and VCR player and have them configured to work with the AMX controller. In addition, to bring the remaining honors classrooms into line with the technology in HONR 106 and 218, we are seeking TAF funding to upgrade the AMX controllers in HONR 116, 117, and 118 for the benefit of instructors using those rooms that service approximately 704 students every semester.
