This proposal covers several projects for the Jones College. The first is renewal and upgrades for the Financial Trading Room (BAS S326). This classroom with its major component being the Bloomberg database benefits 450 economics and finance undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. level students in trading financial securities, conducting financial and economic analyses (including dissertations and the new Master of Finance program). The classroom allows for traditional lecture and we are reconfiguring the classroom to allow for experiential learning which requires a furniture upgrade which allows for flexible seating. The Bloomberg provides a financial, economic and accounting platform that is the industry standard allowing students to earn Bloomberg Certification (very important for students entering the job market) and serves as a learning supplement for students preparing for the Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner certifications. We are requesting student engagement software (TopHat) and lecture capture software (Panopto) to support flipped classrooms and other alternative learning environments. These tools will benefit all 4,000 plus students in the Jones College and the many other disciplines using BAS classrooms.
