Marketing students (majors and minors) need two technologies to enhance student learning and make them prepared for professional work. There are currently 325 marketing majors who will use this requested technology in MKT 3840 (Personal Selling) and MKT 3930 (Marketing Research). In addition, there are at least 300 minors in MKT and a majority of them will take the MKT 3840 class. BAS S302 – WinCati interviewing software is used by MKT 3930 students to make telephone calls for research projects. The technology simulates a marketing research calling center and technology compiles results for statistical analysis. This project was first funded in 2000-2001. One student project is to complete calls for the Middle Tennessee Consumer Outlook Report; other types of research for campus needs and community/business needs are also completed. Approximately 225 students will use this technology each year. BAS S123 – Dartfish is a cloud-based software that allows for videotaping students in sales role plays, coaching, advising and sharing of videos, all to develop business communication and sales skills. This technology will be used by students in MKT 3840 and students on the MTSU Professional Sales Team. Videos of students’ performances can be shared, with permission, with businesses seeking to hire MTSU marketing students. Students will benefit by having greater access to employers, and the Management and Marketing Department, the Jones College, and MTSU will benefit from stronger partnerships with the businesses we serve. Approximately, 200 students will use this technology each year.
