The MTSU Band of Blue (Muen 3100/5100) relies heavily on discipline specific music technology (i.e. Musical instruments) to accomplish their instruction and allow students to have the best possible learning experience. The requested Bb Sousaphones feature a .734-inch bore with exclusive offset short action valves for ultimate player comfort, plus a 26" bell, and rugged body and brace construction for years of reliable service. The majority of the Sousaphones required for the MTSU marching band are now 23 years and older and in great need of replacement. The Band of Blue marches 25 Sousaphones and has procured five in recent years leaving a need for 20 additional instruments. Liberal Arts is requesting 7 of these instruments as their TAF proposal budget will allow. We are requesting the balance of the needed instruments. Each fall the Band of Blue marches over 300 students and provides an invaluable service to band students, the Athletic department, the MTSU community and the general public.
