The Film's Committee is one of the student committees under the umbrella of Student Unions & Programming. The committee is run and operated completely by students, both undergraduate and graduate. Students manage everything from programming, advertising, monetary transactions, customer relations, and the production (showing) of the film. The committee accepts all enrolled students to participate in any or all of these areas. The committee allows each student the opportunity to learn in practice what they are learning in theory from many disciplines including Business, Psychology, and Mass Communication and Recording Industry. Recently the tech access fee committee has funded the films committee with a new surround sound system. An audio/visual consultant has been brought in to review the theater for this project and he has informed us that we are in need of a perforated screen. The perforated screen is unique in that it will allow sound waves to pass through so that a sub and center speaker cabinet can be positioned behing the screen. Having these speakers placed behind the screen is an essential element of the surround sound system. The screen will be installed in the ceiling and will have the ability to be raised and lowered when needed. The students who will be directly effected by this will be the twenty eight committee members, and indireclty the three thousand students who come to see the films in a semester.
