This project proposes the addition of eight electronic databases to the existing continuing subscriptions currently funded through TAF. New titles have become available in electronic format and new opportunities for consortium purchases make some of the expensive products more affordable. The new subscriptions in this proposal are especially important to MTSU students for the following reasons: These resources will be available to all students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, anywhere they have access to the Internet. Many provide the full text of the information online. They are especially important as MTSU increases the number of students taking courses off-campus, online, and telecourses. Many of them are expensive databases especially aimed at the upper division and graduate students. The regular library budget cannot support the continuing costs of such resources. In some cases, print subscriptions can be dropped or the electronic format purchased rather than the print version, thus freeing regular library budget funds for additional purchases.
