The MTSU Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CCPS) is a non-profit training clinic in the Professional Counseling Program. CCPS is the hub of the program, vital for training students and delivering services to the university and community. Faculty teach counseling courses in the facility, most significantly, practicum, which requires students to work with clients. Approximately 25 practicum students per year, supervised by program faculty, provide counseling services to MTSU students, staff and faculty and the local community (over 200 sessions per year). CCPS includes individual counseling rooms, child therapy room, classrooms, control room, waiting room, and supervisor/faculty offices. Rooms are currently equipped with cameras linked to an audio/visual system. This proposal is designed to provide funding to update a/v equipment to more advanced equipment, providing better quality recordings of sessions. The system proposed will allow for digital recordings of sessions to a secure server, updated cameras with pan/tilt/zoom, an updated live supervision component (bug-in-the-eye), remote access to sessions, and security measures to safeguard the property. In addition, the system proposed will provide other client-related services, such as scheduling, case note and treatment plan development. After evaluating multiple systems, Education Management Solutions (EMS) offers a unique platform SIMULATIONiQ Counseling Solution, which meets all of the Center needs. It is unique among available systems by including scheduling, case note and treatment planning, as well as infusing rubrics related to our accreditation standards. CCPS will be partnering with University College to offer counseling for MTSU online students in the near future.
