The department of Health and Human Performance (HHP) is housed in Murphy Center and Alumni Memorial Gym (AMG). The department has 20 classrooms/teaching spaces that include both traditional classrooms and activity spaces. These teaching spaces are used in providing instruction of over 1,200 undergraduate majors in HHP and ~800 undergraduate non-majors per semester. Of the 20 classroom/teaching spaces, 8 utilize Nomad carts for multimedia instruction. The Nomad carts contain: PC, LCD Projector, DVD/VHS combo, document camera, sound system, and cables to attach analog input from a laptop/video source. The Nomad carts in HHP classrooms are all at least 7 years old, are no longer under warranty, and are not being repaired by ITD. With the rate at which the Nomad carts are failing, we already have one classroom with NO technology for instruction (AMG 153). This proposal is to replace 4 of the old Nomad carts with 4 Entry Level Master classroom configurations (two in Murphy Center 101 & 103 and two in Alumni Gym 153 & 214). Additionally, this proposal includes funding for furniture to upgrade MC 101 from desk-arm chairs to conference tables and task chairs. In today's world, a functional classroom requires the ability to utilize multimedia presentations for instruction.
