This proposal provides critical improvements for media Arts' 713 majors to help them become more competitively job ready upon graduation. The PC server is a critical upgrade to our expanding use of PCs for Animation classes. The Wacom Cintiq HD Touchpads are digital drawing pads for our 167 Animation majors. Items for our 359 Video & Film Production majors include AVID Playmaker, an instant replay system for the Mobile Production Lab; a software upgrade for the Ross Expression character generator; a Red Raven Digital Cinema Camera; 48 seats of ProTools audio editing software; plus a variety of support gear. The touchscreen display and 360 photo stitching software will support Film & Video & Interactive Media students learn how to work in Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality & other emerging forms of media. A variety of digital photography gear will help the Photograph program keep up to date with digital & other industry changes. The School of Journalism and Strategic Media request for an intercom system for production/news in Studio 2, will be used as a teaching and production facility. Remote production and camera kits & the Teradeck Live News Pack will enable multi-camera news coverage of community & campus events, including sports, election coverage & campus news, also allowing students to broadcast live using an internet system from across campus or anywhere internet service is available. This equipment supports the mission of classroom education & student training for the accredited School of Journalism and Strategic Media.
