The Dean's priority discipline-specific proposal for the College of Media and Entertainment includes a substantial upgrade to audio production gear used by students in the Recording Industry and Media Arts departments. This smaller proposal provides additional technology to that larger proposal to interconnect Recording Industry's and Media Arts' control rooms and studios, the Mobile Production Lab, and on-location audio sources (such as concert performance venues) with each other in the manner of current industry standards. The content to be transmitted includes multiple channels of audio, intercom for crew communications, and video of the events. The necessary gear includes fiber optic cabling, fiber optic connections, switches, controls, transceivers, recorders, combiners, and splitters. This interconnectivity will be used continuously for each of these facilities, and will affect the several hundred students using these facilities.
