The Theatre and Dance program has an in-depth training program that is the envy of many schools with similar populations, as well as an extensive co-curricular program. Along with serving out majors, we have active students from A&E Design, Fashion, Interior Design, and Studio Arts. In order to keep up with industry standards and to address pressing safety needs, we are requesting upgrades in several areas. Cueing technicians is an emerging training issue and a cueing system is requested. Our ability to train students in motorized rigging for the industry requires real world equipment which we do not currently have. An essential ongoing aspect of our technical training program is the addition of new, industry standard, lighting spot light and hazer. Proper ventilation is essential in all areas of the theatre, especially those in the various construction shops. With the safety of our students and our staff being paramount, we request that ventilation improvements in both the Scenic Shop and the Dye Room be implemented and brought up to industry standards.
